Research in the Polymer Materials and Mechanics Lab at the University of Minnesota focuses on the design and analysis of structures utilizing polymers and polymer composites. Mechanics principles associated with design using orthotropic and anisototripic materials are also developed. Recent research topics span both large scale structures (such as residential roofs and filament wound rocket motor cases), and microscale structures (such as MEMS). Additional published research includes experimental and theoretical studies of polymer degradation, nondestructive evaluation of layered materials, and design of MEMs devices for biomedical applications.
