The environmental chamber used to degrade polymer samples

The Polymer Materials and Mechanics Lab operates an environmental degradation chamber capable of exposing samples to an extremely oxidative liquid environment with an oxidation-reduction potential of around 825 mV for periods of over 1000 hours. This is achieved through chlorination and elevated (up to 70 °C) temperatures. pH is also controlled to maintain a stable environment.
